This custom-made bookshelf is made out of 12mm oak planks. Ninety six individual pieces have been handmade and marked to fit into the puzzle of the 4.0 x 2.5m wall. The shelving is designed as an expandable system, it is self-supporting and has no visible fittings so it can be dismantled and re-used.

The Outpost by Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen

The Outpost, by Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen, is a place for art sited in the sparse setting of central Idaho. At first, I thought the relationship of the house to its site was odd. The exterior is bare CMU block with just the few penetrations for glass. And the long and high garden wall separates a tree colonnade from the principal site, even though there is not a lot to separate from in the area. Then the photographs draw you inside the house, and the connection to the landscape becomes more clear. The large glass on the elevated level provides expansive views of the low and open landscape. The tree garden, surrounded and separated by the high wall, is place-less and retains no connection to the infertile site. As much as the exterior has a nice form, to me the project is about the experience of seeing one’s connection and disconnection from the site. This quality makes a perfect place to be quieted for the creation of art.

The Book by ISABELLE VAVERKA

Today there are thousands of possibilities to download literature in a digital form. Nevertheless I regard the book first of all as an object. My goal is to visualize my memories that are purely connected with these objects. I researched the identity of my own books without dealing with their content, but rather focusing on their history and my relation to the objects themselves. All these memories are fixed in a bookshelf that is adapted by a personal collection of literature; research project; June 2009

Why the traditional speaker has to be put away in the corner of the room or hidden in the wall? Speaker could be displaied, and the aditional function could be imparted. The object becomes the item of furniture by a simple arrengement of dvd and books. Two suggestion of shape give the possibility to arrange the interior in the modern style and to achieve a good quality of home video amplification.
